Claire began her journey as a photographer when she was very young. From the time she was three years old, she was taking photos of everything from her cat Peeper to sights around the world. At 11 years old she traded babysitting sessions with the children of a professional photographer for lessons in the darkroom and at 19 she moved to Seattle, wanting to see new things and learn all about her chosen craft.
In 2005 she went into business part-time as a photographer. At first she worked for free, but soon her results spoke for themselves, and people were eager to pay her. And so by 2010 Claire was getting restless to fulfill her goal which was to start her own business by the time she was 30 so by the time her birthday came around that year, she quit her job at a real estate firm, left business school (having already learned more than enough to be getting on with), and Halcyon Claire Photography was born.
While Claire doesn’t have a formal degree in photography, her years of experience, love of hands-on learning, and the many classes she has taken through the Glassell School of Art and Texas School of Photography have made her into the photographer she is today.
